Delivery Update: Shipping Delays Expected in SE QLD & NE NSW

Due to severe weather and rising water levels, the Pacific Highway is currently closed in two locations with no estimated time of reopening:

  • Taree (south to Moorland)
  • Kew to Thrumster

As a result, the following service disruptions apply:

  • Taree Depot: Closed until further notice. Freight for the Taree region is currently 2 days behind. We have no access to the depot, so no freight will be scanned until we are able to return.
  • Port Macquarie & Coffs Harbour Freight (Ex Sydney 20/05): This freight was turned around at Taree due to highway closures and returned to Sydney. We will reassess later today to determine the best course of action. This freight is currently 1 day behind. All freight will be scanned upon arrival at Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour depots. Please note that freight ex-QLD has been delivered in these regions.
  • Port Macquarie Agent: Access is completely cut off. Freight for this agent will be held at the Port Macquarie depot until conditions allow for safe delivery.
  • Newcastle / Hunter Region: Multiple areas are experiencing localised flooding and road closures. With water levels still rising, we anticipate additional areas may become inaccessible.

We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.

Due to access restrictions and staffing limitations, we kindly request customers to hold shipments bound for South Eastern Queensland and North Eastern New South Wales for additional 24 hours from Monday, 10/3/2025, to allow conditions to improve.

Service Interruptions – Temporary Depot Closures Due to Cyclone Alfred

Due to the impact of Cyclone Alfred in Queensland, Direct Freight Express will continue operations until Thursday, 6th March 2025, and will temporarily cease services on Friday, 7th March 2025 at the following depots:

  • Brisbane
  • Gold Coast
  • Sunshine Coast
  • Toowoomba
  • Gympie
  • Hervey Bay
  • Ballina

We kindly request all customers to refrain from sending freight to these locations until services resume on Monday, 10th March 2025.

DFE Opens new depots - VIC

Direct Freight Express is pleased to announce our new depots in Victoria, now servicing the following locations:

  • Warrnambool Depot
    20 Coghlans Rd, Warrnambool 3280 6am-3pm
  • Portland Depot
    Lot 1 Shed B &C Hill Court, Portland Vic 3305, 6am-3pm
  • Hamilton Depot
    Lot 1, 146 South Boundary Rd, Hamilton Vic 3300, 6am-3pm

The Triangle

Our new depots located at Warrnambool, Portland and Hamilton, located In Victoria. The locations of these new sites is what we like to call the “triangle” became necessary to handle the growing business as well as the increased travel times and traffic across the greater Victorian metropolitan and regional areas.

These depots will service your goods more effectively to meet the rising demand for fast and reliable freight services. The location of these depots enhances Direct Freights ability to serve both metropolitan and regional areas in Victoria, significantly reducing delivery times, whilst keeping costs low.

Festive Season Services

27th December 2024 - 10th January 2025 Services
Please be advised that Direct Freight Express will be operating with reduced staff during this period.

Deliveries
Some destinations may experience 1-2 day delay, and our usual ETA schedule may not be maintained. Impacted destinations include Far North Qld, NT, WA, Tasmania and regional areas not serviced by Direct Freight Express (DFE) directly. This applies to shipments from all origin ports.

Additionally, please ensure the receiver is available to accept deliveries, as many businesses may be closed and home delivery receivers may be on holidays during this festive season, helping you save costs by avoiding redelivery charges.

Pickups
As many businesses operate with reduced capacity or are closed, all scheduled and daily pickups will be temporarily suspended.

If a pickup is required, please select “Book A Pickup” option after logging into your account or contact us at 1300 347 397 (option 2, then option 1) before 2 PM.

Please note that you can also book in your pickup 4 days in advance via your DFE portal.

Direct Freight Express will be closed on the following public holidays:

  • Wednesday 25th December 2024
  • Thursday 26th December 2024
  • Wednesday 1st January 2025
